Purpose:
The Career Studies Certificate in Public Safety Telecommunications prepares students for employment as confident and competent dispatchers in law enforcement, and/or fire and emergency medical services telecommunications centers. This program is designed to prepare graduates for industry certification and immediate career mobility into entry level emergency telecommunicator positions.
Admissions Requirements:
Admission is competitive and is based on grades, interviews, and the student meeting the criteria established for attending the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy. Candidates must submit a Certificate of Medical Eligibility, a Certificate of Drug Testing, a fingerprint card, a summary of results of psychological testing, and a summary of results of polygraph examination. All candidates will be required to provide an original birth certificate reflecting U.S. Citizenship, an official transcript reflecting college credit, a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate, and proof of personal medical insurance coverage.
Program Requirements:
All students expected to complete the requirements for a degree, diploma, certificate, or career studies certificate must complete an Application for Graduation.
