AWARD: Associate of Science

LENGTH: 2 Years

Purpose:

The Associate of Science program in Business Administration prepares the student to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in business. It provides the student with the course work and skills needed to pursue further study in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and more.

Transfer Virginia:

This program is aligned with the Transfer Virginia Business AS common curriculum.  Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their academic advisor and review program options using the Transfer Virginia Portal (www.transfervirginia.org ) or in consultation with their intended four-year institution.

Admissions Requirements:

Individuals are eligible for admission to CVCC if they are high school graduates or the equivalent, or if they are eighteen years of age or older and able to benefit academically from study at the community college, as demonstrated by assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics. Entry in the Business Administration AS requires students to have college level skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Students with deficiencies in English and mathematics will be required to take appropriate developmental courses.

Program Requirements:

All students expected to complete the requirements for a degree, diploma, certificate, or career studies certificate must complete an Application for Graduation.

The Program Pathway for Business Administration AS is a resource for students that lists the following items:

  • The recommended order in which to take the program courses
  • Suggested course when more than one option exists
  • If the course has a prerequisite
  • Courses that may lead to a certificate (if offered in the program)

Uniform Certificate of General Studies

The pathway below identifies CVCC-specific courses that align with the Transfer Virginia Business Administration AS Common Curriculum.  Students should consult with their academic advisor about about additional course options, the Transfer Virginia Portal, www.transfervirginia.org or by consulting with their intended four-year institution.

Total Program Credits: 62

Transfer Note:

Students should consult an academic counselor to verify specific program requirements with their intended four-year institution. While an elective course may satisfy a requirement for the Central Virginia Community College program, it may not fulfill a requirement at a four-year institution. Also, note that all four-year transfer agreements for partnering four-year institutions may be found at transfervirginia.org under Resource Center. Please consult the institution if an agreement is not posted.
